Electrical Heating VS Steam heating
For breweries, the choice of heating method is often something need to be think over.
It requires the brewers to evaluate the brewing technical, heating efficiency, budget and so on.
Let’s take a look at the main difference between electrical heating and steam heating.
- For Brewing technical
Because there is no heating elements in the MLT, the step mashing need to be achieved by mixing with hot water. Sometimes it's not stable enough for temperature controlling.
Such as different temperature of grist may cause the temperature difference after mixing.The operation will be more complicated there might be some affect on some kinds of beer.
For some beer, they may require several steps of mashing. If you use steam heating, the temperature can be reached whatever you want.
- For Budget
Steam heating method require steam boiler and steam pipeline. It usually cost more than the electrical heating method.
- For energy efficiency
In the case of the same electricity consumption, the conversion of electrical energy into heat will be higher with heating elements . The heating element contact with the liquid directly.
For the steam generator feed by electricity, there will be some energy loss on steam pipeline, steam jacket etc.
You can see from these factors, steam heating has obvious advantages.
