How to use the CIP unit for cleaning your brewing equipment?

As we all know, the clean equipment could make the better beer. So, CIP Unit is the indispensable part in the brewing system.

At Grainbrew, we usually recommend different types of CIP unit based on the different capacities of the brewing system:
1)Portable CIP Pump
2)Portable CIP Cart
3)Fixed CIP Station

Here, we would like to take the portable CIP cart as an example for further explanation:
The portable CIP cart is composed of a caustic tank with an electric heating element, an acidic tank, a sanitary pump, a control panel and a support frame with wheels. The material of its main body is SUS304 stainless steel. The tank volume in the CIP unit depends on the brewhouse capacity and we usually offer 100 litre and 200 litre per tank for this type.

After connecting the CIP unit with the tank ready for washing by the flexible hose. The cleaning procedure begins. There are mainly five steps to clean the brewing system by CIP unit:
1)Fill the brewery tank with a few amount of the tap water. Rinse the tank for 3 times and for each time, the washing procedure should last at least 5min.
2)Mix the alkali liquid by 5% alkali with the hot water of 60 to 80°C. Make the alkali liquid circulating in the tank. This step should last about 15 to 20min and then drain it out of the tank.
3)Circulate the water in the tank and wash it till the alkali liquid has been completely eliminated in the tank. For this step, it will take about 15min.
4)Use H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) liquid to rinse the tank and keep it circulating for 15min and drain it out. Close all the valves of the tank when the cleaning procedure completes.

With these steps, the tank will be tidy and clean for the next batch. But we have some reminders for you:
1)Do not be in contact with the alkali liquid when operating the cleaning process, or else the skins will be burnt badly.
2)The liquid level in the caustic tank should not be lower than the height of the electric heating element, or else the heating element will run dry and then broken down.
