Many filter wicks are installed in candle filters, which are filter materials to which diatomite is pre-applied. For filtering, the helix is wound radially around the center of the candle. Since nearly 700 candle cores are installed in the filter, the resulting filter area is very large, the filtration efficiency is very high, and the candle core has no moving parts.
 
The working process of the candle filter:
a. Fill the filter with water.
b. The first precoat was mixed with water with diatomite and carried out on the wick for 10 minutes. This is followed by a second precoat in the same way.
c. Cycle. The equipment is cycled for 10-15 minutes after each precoat.
d. Followed by beer filtration. First the water is pushed out by the beer. The beer to be filtered is slowly pushed out of the water in the filter from bottom to top, and filtered through the candle wick. Then, the diatomite liquid is quantitatively added to the beer through a metering pump.
e. Beer filtration. Continuously adding diatomite, the diatomite layer on the candle wick is getting thicker and higher, and the filtration precision is getting higher and higher. However, the pressure at the inlet is also getting higher. When the maximum allowable pressure of 0.5-0.6MPa (gauge pressure) is reached, the filtration must be stopped.
f. Filtering ends. After the end, the beer is ejected by the deoxygenated water entering from the lower part. At this point, a mixture of beer and water is produced, which is called the tail.
g. Discharge waste diatomite. The waste diatomite is in the form of thick mud, and the diatomite is pressed out of the candle wick with compressed air.
h. Cleaning.
