Hello there, welcome to visit our brewery equipment website!
This is Sharon here from Tiantai Brewery Equipment Company.
The hop pitching tank and the hop gun are both used in the brewing process to introduce hops into beer, but they serve different purposes and operate differently.
Hop Pitching Tank:
Function: A hop pitching tank is typically used for adding hops during the later stages of fermentation or aging. The hops are added directly to the tank where the beer is already present. This process is often referred to as "dry hopping."
Operation: hops added directly to the pitching tank and then seal the tank. Open the valve and hops will be pitched into fermenter to realize hop pitching with pressures. The hops steep in the beer over time, imparting aroma and flavor without adding bitterness, as there is no boiling involved.
Use Case: Hop pitching tanks are common in traditional dry hopping methods, where whole hops or hop pellets are added to the beer to enhance aroma and flavor.
Hop Gun:
Function: A hop gun is a specialized piece of equipment designed for more efficient and controlled dry hopping. It allows for better extraction of hop flavors and aromas from the hops.
Operation: The hop gun operates by circulating beer from the fermenter through a chamber containing the hops, which are usually in pellet form. The beer passes through the hop pellets under pressure, allowing for better contact and extraction of the desired compounds from the hops.
Use Case: The hop gun is used for maximizing hop utilization, reducing the time needed for dry hopping, and ensuring a more consistent result. It is particularly useful in larger-scale or commercial brewing operations where efficiency and consistency are crucial.
