When to dry hop?
Actually there are two choices for dry hops according to some brewers.
1. Fermentation Process
This is most popular way for many brewers.
Below are some method for dry hop on fermentation process
• Funnel Method
• Top of Tank Method
• Slurry Method
• Hop Flower Soak Method
• Hop Cannon
• Torpedo
Pros: Popular and convenient, can add more hops.
Cons: Co2 bubblingandagitationtakessomeofthehoparomaoutofthebeerjustlikeboilingwould.This,ofcourse,maydefeatthepurposeofdryhopping,althoughsomeofthehopessencewillsubsist.
2.Dryhoppinginthesecondary orkeg.
Pros: Thebeerhasalreadymostlyfermented,sothealcoholandlowpHhelpstowardoffanybacteriaonthe unsanitary hops.
Second,thevigorousCO2activityoftheprimaryisfinished,sothe
aromaofthehopswon’ tbescrubbedoutofthebeer.
Cons: Somebrewersfeelthatifthehopsareinthebeerformorethan afew weeks,thebeerdevelopsa“grassy”
flavor.
Actually it had been tested by one brewer,the beer is still good despiteleavinghopsinmykegsforaslongassixweeks.
