Why hops storing temperature is so sub zero?

For most brewers, temperature for storing hops can be 28°F, 26°F, 22°F or even 10°F, different brewer have different ideas about storing hops. But obviously the temperature are all sub zero.

But why is so important to assure a suitable storing temperature for brewer?
The essential oils of hops are very stable under sub zero?
As we all know, hops contain oil, acid, polyphenols.
While hop oil , acid and polyphenols oxidation are triggered by the partial pressure of oxygen present, temperature and light. If one of these parameters goes up, then the storability goes down. So store it away from oxygen, dark and freezen cold can guaranty the highest quality of hops possible-)

One of micro brewer said, we stored those hops, some for more than a year, at 10°F. I noted no degradation of oil/flavour/aroma and our alpha's and BU's did not suffer at all. These were regularly tested in our own lab.

Also one panelist that worked for a hop broker that said the optimum storage temp for pelletized hops is 26°F.
Anything higher would cause faster degradation and anything lower is a waste of energy/money.
