Do you really know about a hopgun?

Nowadays, more and more beer lovers prefer the heavily hopped beer brewed by the craft brewery.
So, a dry hopping port on the beer fermenter or a hopback has to become an essential part in the brewing system.
However, some brewers commented that the hop flavor released in the fermentation tank or the hopback seemed not that enough.
That gives us an idea to design and manufacture something that may bring stronger hop aroma to craft beer.
Then, Grainbrew’s new stylish dry hopping equipment was born----Hopgun.

What is a hopgun used for?

Some brewers may be not so familiar with hopgun or hop gun.
It is also called a hop extractor, or a hop rocket, hop cannon variable with its volume.
The hopgun is a stainless steel tank with a candle filter inside.
It is used as a dry hopping tank for extraction the aroma from the hops into the cold beer when it is connected with the fermentation tank or the brite beer tank, where the beer is finished but yet to be fully matured.
As a result, a heavily hopped beer is brewed.

How does a hopgun work?

The hopgun could not work alone. Instead, it needs to be driven by a gentle diaphragm pump under an isobaric and completely oxygen-free circumstance.

As the hopgun is connected with the beer tank, the brewer should fill the hop pellets or the fresh hop flowers into the hopgun from its top lid and then purge with CO2 through a carbonation port on it.
The hopgun utilizes a double helix design to create a burst of oinner turbulence that dissolves the hop aroma as the beer circulates through the beer tank.
The precious oil and hop flavor is released thoroughly and the suspension is returned back to a candle filter inside the hopgun.
At last, clean the hopgun with the CIP unit and get it ready for the next dry hopping.

Currently, Grainbrew offers variable volumes of the hopgun to match your demands: 60L, 80L and 100L are available.
Other volumes could be customized upon your special request.
