Choose Suitable Craft Beer Fermenters For Your Brewery


 
Fermenters, also called fermentation vessels, are used to store wort and ferment it into beer. A fermentation tank is an essential part of even the humblest home brewery. Almost any container that can hold liquid can be a potential fermenter.
 
Different products can be fermented using different yeasts in fermenters. Brewer's yeast is used to ferment wort into beer. This is because, during the fermentation process of brewing beer, yeast converts sugar into alcohol. You can also convert biomass into biogas in a fermenter. It is worth noting that a key factor in the fermentation process is the amount of oxygen. In the absence of oxygen (anaerobic conditions), yeast converts more sugar into alcohol. If there is a lot of oxygen, it will cause the yeast to multiply in the first place. This is why fermentation needs to take place in a closed space.
 
How many fermenters do I need?
How many fermenters are needed depends on the daily production capacity of the brewery. Large brewery capacity is of no use without an appropriate number of storage units. The number of storage units determines the brewery’s throughput. Most craft beers take 3-4 weeks to mature, so you'll need to purchase the appropriate number of beer fermenters based on your daily production.
 
Why do breweries use copper tanks?
Copper was a valuable metal in brewery buildings but has been largely replaced by stainless steel. Copper can be forged into thin sheets so that large brewing vessels can be easily attached to create a leak-proof seal. Copper is also a good conductor of heat. In an era when direct heating was common, copper was the metal of choice. In addition, a small amount of wood barrels are also nutrients needed by yeast. Wort is slightly acidic and can dissolve small amounts of copper to keep yeast healthy. During beer fermentation, copper's role is to reduce the concentration of hydrogen sulfide, a gas that has the smell of rotten eggs.
 
Of course, copper has its drawbacks. It is harder to clean than stainless steel. Although copper is ductile, it is relatively soft and does not have the structural strength of steel. Although the exterior of the brewery is made of copper cladding for aesthetic reasons, the interior of the vessel is almost entirely stainless steel.
