How to compare the time saving between two vessel and four vessel brewhouse



When purchasing new equipment for your brewery, it’s important to think about capacity, structure, brewing technical, expanding potential etc.
Expanding potential depends heavily on how many times you could brew per day. But How to estimate time saving based on different structure of brewhouse?
Let’s take an example of 2 vessel(MLT+KWT) and 4 vessel(MT+LT+KT+WT) brewhouse.

Usually for most of beer, 1 batch brewing may take around 8 hours.
The time distribution may estimate as something like this:
0.5-0.8 hours for milling, 2-2.5hours for mashing, 1.5-2 hours for lautering and sparging,
1.5-2hours for heating and boiling, 0.5-1hours for whirlpool and standing, 0.5 hours for wort cooling and transferring to fermenters.

For the two vessel brewhouse[MLT+KWT], the mashing and lautering process will be done in the MLT.
the whirlpool and boiling process will be done in the KWT.
That is to say, the second brew couldn't start until the wort of the first brew is moved to KWT. As a result, it may take around 12-14hours to complete the two brews.

For the four vessel brewhouse, since each vessel only responsible for one purpose, the next batch of mashing can start after the previous mashing process is completed.
That is to say, It will take around extra 2-2.5 hours for every extra batch.
The more batches you brew, the more time you will save for the four vessel brewhouse.

Different beer may need different time for brewing, so you could estimate the time distribution accordingly.
