How to use the electric heated brewhouse to brew beers?

When heated method of brewhouse is electric resistances, we would find the mash/lauter tun can’t be heated directly by electric resistances, or else the electric resistance will cause mashing scorching and bring bad flavor and color into beers.
So the question is coming, how to control mashing temperature if the mash/lauter tun can’t be directly heated.

Taking the two vessel brewhouse+HLT as an example, the following is a sharing of our brewing process. Hope that can bring you some help.

1) Heat water to 68 degrees in HLT;

2) Add 55%(volume of mash tun) 68 degrees water into Mash tun;

3) Feed grain grist that is already prepared into the Mash tun, and mix them evenly;

4) Adjust slightly the temp after mixing to 55±1 degrees, then keep warm for 70 mins;

5) Add water into HLT, then heat it to 100 degrees;

6) After 70 mins mashing is completed, add 100 degrees hot water into Mash tun;

7) Make sure the temp after mixing is 66±1 degrees, them keep warm in the temp for 60 mins;

8) Pump the mash liquid into Lauter tun.

9)Wort recirculation to wort clear, then start to filter. The clear wort is pumped into Kettle/Whirlpool tun;

10) Sparging by using the 78~80 degree water;

10)Boil wort for 60 mins, add hops for bittering and aroma;

11) Whirlpool for 3~5 mins, wait for 30 mins;

12) Wort cooling within 30 mins, transfer cooled wort into fermenter at the same time.
