What is Hop Doser?

What is Hop Doser?

The hop doser is a small device used in the beer brewing process to add hops to the beer at specific stages, especially for dry hopping during beer fermentation, so it has another name “ dry hopping tank” The main function of it is keeping the fermentation tank pressure when adding hops into fermenters.

To fit different capacity of beer fermenters, also considering different hop adding volume during dry hopping, the hop doser usually has different capacity ranges from 50L to 25L. In craft beer brewing, rarely brewers use hop doser exceed 25L, you know the dry hopping port usually located on top of fermenters, the hop doser is quite heavy and not very convenient for operation with bigger capacity. There is usually pressure gauge and air outlet on hop doser.  And the manual butterfly valve usually being used on dry hopping port of each tank, for helping the turnover of hop doser between each tank.

Using a hop doser during beer fermentation helps ensure consistent hop flavors and aromas in the final product. It also allows brewers to streamline the brewing process and focus on other aspects of beer production. However, it's essential to follow proper sanitation practices, monitor the process, and adjust the hop doser settings as needed to achieve the desired beer profile.
