Brief Introduction Of Centrifugal pumps



Centrifugal pump is the primary pump type in the class of pumps. They all include a shaft-driven impeller that rotates inside a casing. Liquid flows into the suction port of the casing and is thrown to the outside of the casing.
They are widely used in breweries for transferring of the mash, wort, hot water, glycol water, cold water etc.

One key advantage of centrifugal pump is that they can be throttled over a wide range by a discharge valve.
Though it's not as efficient as VFD (variable frequency drive). Many people prefer it for theeasy operation and cheaper price.

There are some tips should be noted when the pump is throttled.

• It should not be throttled below the minimum safe flow rate.
• Too much throttling may cause excessive shaft deflection, that may increase the wear on bearings and seals inside the pump.

• The wear on bearings and seals will be increased.
• In less favorable suction conditions, such as long suction pipes, low supply tank levels, or liquid with high vapour pressures. The pump is easy to cavitate.
• Too much recirculation may cause excessive heat buildup to the liquid.
