How to choose the right chiller for your brewery?

As we all know, in the brewery, many processes need to be cooled, such as the wort needs to be cooled after the wort is boiled, the fermenter needs to be cooled, and the beer needs to be kept at a lower temperature for preservation after the fermentation is completed. The brewer can use the glycol cooler to significantly reduce the product temperature in a short time according to production needs.

How To Choose The Glycol Chiller for your brewery?
Usually for the brewery system of 500L and above, we recommend to equip two chillers, such as the brewery system of 500L, if you choose between two 3P chillers or one 5P chiller, usually we recommend to choose two 3P chillers machine. There are two main reasons. One is that when the required cooling capacity is not much, we can only open one to save energy. The second is that we all know that if there is no source of refrigeration in the brewery, the beer in the fermenter may all go bad. When there is a special situation when the refrigerator suddenly breaks down, another one can be used as a backup to avoid huge losses.

In the chiller system, a water tank is usually equipped to buffer the heat load of the chiller. But should we choose a built-in water tank or an external glycol tank? Chillers with built-in water tanks are easier to install, just connect the water lines to your application and they are ready to use. However, the capacity of the built-in water tank is limited, so it is not suitable for occasions where the demand for chilled water is large. For medium-sized breweries, in addition to cooling the fermentation tank, a large amount of glycol water is required for cooling the wort. It is obviously unreasonable to use the built-in water tank. Now most breweries usually use chiller cools the glycol water tank and then uses the glycol water in the glycol water tank to cool the fermenter and provide glycol for wort cooling. The capacity of the glycol water tank can be customized according to specific needs. Can buffer greater heat load and store more chilled water.
So what are your thoughts on the chiller system in the brewery? Warmly welcome to discuss with us. We also supply all brewery equipment. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested.
